Let's stay connected
They will need us
During emergencies, our current communication infrastructure is vulnerable to disruptions. Natural disasters such as hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and landslides can damage communication towers, fiber optic cables, and power grids. Additionally, intentional sabotage during social unrest can worsen the situation, hindering rescue efforts, coordination, and public safety.
Satellite communication provides a reliable backup during emergencies, enhancing the communication infrastructure. It functions independently of ground-level disruptions like downed power lines or damaged cables. Satellite technology also offers extensive coverage, ensuring communication access even in remote areas with limited terrestrial infrastructure. Moreover, satellite communication systems can be quickly deployed, delivering immediate communication capabilities following a disaster.
The National State Association of Chaplains has established a growing network of satellite radio communications, allowing chaplains to stay connected when other systems fail. This network ensures that chaplains can serve as points of contact for local first responders and federal resources when traditional communications are scarce or unavailable during the initial moments of a crisis.
Would you like to join the network of chaplains permanently connected through our Emergency Response Satellite® Radio (ERSR) program?
You can acquire our special equipment and, with a monthly fee, remain permanently connected, making a difference in your community. The requirements are simple:
1) You must be an active chaplain,
2) You must be located in an area not yet covered by the network.
3)Pledge to the Code of Ethics and Conduct for the ERSR
